Rabbinic Intern
Laurie Matzkin
Laurie is excited and honored to join the Adat Shalom family during her final year of rabbinical training at the UJ/AJU's Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies. After her undergraduate degree in Music (Flute Performance) and Jewish Studies at Indiana University, Laurie spent two years working for Hillel of Philadelphia engaging hundreds of students across 7 city-wide campuses. Since returning to her native California in 2003, Laurie has taught all ages across the LA Jewish community, including stints at Temple Beth Am, Sinai Temple, Los Angeles Hebrew High School, the Brandeis-Bardin Institute and the UJ's Introduction to Judaism program, and earned a Master's in Jewish Experiential Education from the UJ. She loves intense Jewish experiences such as camps, Birthright Israel, Shabbaton retreats, and service-learning such as AJWS delegations. In her (free??) time, Laurie relishes yoga, cooking, the arts, and the outdoors.
